Stockholm city joins MEISTER Project

From December 2019, Stockholm city was officially added to the MEISTER consortium. Stockholm replaces the city of Goteborg as a pilot site.

Thus, from now on MEISTER services and tools will be tested and validated in three urban areas in Southern, Central and Northern Europe: Malaga (Spain), Berlin (Germany), and Stockholm (Sweden).

Stockholm will deploy and demonstrate the business models: BM3- Delivery of home care services with EVs, BM5-Smart Park & Charge, BM6-Smart Charging, with especial focus on BM3. Therefore, MEISTER E-Mobility Interoperable Platform and Services products will be deployed in Stockholm to provide easy access to e-mobility for electric vehicle drivers. City council will deploy and test MEISTER Smart E-Mobility Dashboard in order to monitor and access e-mobility services. Moreover, the European eMobility Expertise Centre developed will be demonstrated and aligned with the e-mobility initiatives in Stockholm to indicate process and measures supporting the take-up of e-mobility take-in Sweden.

Beyond MEISTER framework, Stockholm is actively working on the development of a market for EVs of all kinds by coordinating the national procurement of EVs by public and private organisations, demonstrating various electric fleets for specific user groups in various EU projects (e.g. CIVITAS Eccentric, GrowSmarter); installing 1,200 public charging spots in the city’s garages and offering charging to all long-term rental parking; developing a comprehensive approach to identify potential charging points and facilitate installation of charging points by third parties; launching wide-ranging public information campaigns aimed at housing associations, fleet managers and other purchasers of EVs and users of charging infrastructure. Today there are nearly 22.000 chargeable vehicles in Stockholm, accounting for 6,3% of all vehicles, and 1.400 charging spots. EVs are forecasted to exceed 347.000 by 2030 and Stockholm aims to have 4.000 charging spots by 2022.
